Apple Crumble

Made by: Elena Hammel

Filling:
about 2 lbs apples (Granny Smith work well), peeled cored and sliced (sometimes I don't peel them)
1 tsp cinnamon
2 oz brown sugar
1 tbsp flour

Crumble

10 oz flour
6 oz brown sugar
a pinch of salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 tsp cinnamon
softened butter (about 1 stick)

Preheat oven to 400F. In a bowl mix apple slices with all the ingredients in the filling.  Make sure they are well coated and then transfer them to your baking dish.

In a separate mixing bowl, mix together the dry ingredients: flour, brown sugar, salt baking powder and cinnamon.  Cut in pieces of the softened butter into the dry mix and mash it in with a fork until it breaks off into small bits.  Continue to add butter in this manner until the mixture looks like rolled oats (use as much or as little butter as you need).

Crumble the mixture  over the apples and cook for 35-45 minutes, until brown.  Liquid should bubble up on corners through the crumble when it is cooked through.
